Probably. Some people here are super paranoid about IP logging. Kinda funny how it shifted from people sharing everything not so long ago. Perhaps the "stop letting people know stuff about you" pendulum has swung the other way, taking us back to the days of "STRANGER DANGER!"

I guess it depends on where you hang out, what people you know and what exactly you feel is 'too much information'. I don't necessarily agree we're back at "stranger danger" because I see people using their real name, posting about where they live, where they work, talking about health issues (etc) on social media all the time. If anything I think people are getting more and more comfortable with sharing information with the world.

Maybe the IP logging anon is one of few?

Really? I have not noticed a great difference in comment levels between when IP logging is on and off. And I honestly do not get why a very few number of people seem to care so much. It is so stupid.

I'm judging you hard, OP. Not just for the dumb "wah IP logging" stuff, but you have bad taste in trolls. Our trolls (or troll? I'm still half convinced we've only the one) is too tryhard to even take interesting, and her new angle is just whining about how she wants this community to die and then stalk/harass everyone. The times there has been good, fun wank are sadly rare. I mean there's only so often you can listen to our troll harass dethtoll, try to indignantly shut down threats in the GC and tell case he's horrible before you've kind of seen it all and it gets boring.

I don't troll in the comments, I just submit secrets I think will generate discussion. I am not the IP logging troll, nor am I any of the other known trolls, i.e. jaybie's troll, the fedora guy, radfem, etc. While I wouldn't claim to be great at it, I've had secrets that result in lots of comments when IP logging is off, some of it wank, some of it very interesting and thought provoking. Whether or not that ruins the community is up for debate, but it beats the hell out of silence IMO.

You do know that your secret was the result of all the shit!posting when the secrets went up. A small group of otherwise named users went anon and drove full bore on getting the IP logging on. Then we logged back in and were outraged and shocked, shocked I tell you, about the shit!posting anons. Next time you want to make a secret about IP logging, just add a note asking for IP logging to be turned on if it is posted. Save poor Case the headache.
