Aww, it sucks when that happens :(

If you usually get reasonable feedback, maybe it's worth just unanoning and updating on your own account? Then your followers will know it's you, and you might get some encouraging responses.

Considering it, but there's some noncon content I'm afraid I might get wank for.

Ah, that's always a risk...
Still, if you say at the beginning that it's a fill for a kinkmeme, post a bunch of warnings (in tags and also in notes), that should cover it (except for the people who might wank on you for writing noncon in the first place, I guess?)

Make a second AO3 account and post it there under a different name. Noncon is big on AO3. You could view the kink meme posting as just a trial run for posting it on AO3 later.

It's really dispiriting not to get any comments on a kink meme fic, but how many readers you get on a kink meme depends more on luck than anything else, who happens to be browsing at the time. Fic is hard to search for on a kink meme. Slap it on AO3 and tag it well and you'll be getting readers for years.

You say the pairing isn't particularly popular, so maybe that has a hand in it. Are you updating the links in the appropriate places? Sometimes people have a difficult time finding fills on memes.

And are you updating to just the meme, or AO3 too? You probably would get more comments if you updated to AO3 as well, just because it's much easier to search for specific pairings.

Do whatever you are comfortable with, OP.

you know how street musicians in Japan get no tips if their donation can doesn't have money in it already?

try giving yourself some comments. maybe ppl are suspicious about the lack of reaction and they can find the same kinks with a more popular pairing, so they don't bother checking your story out.

something like "I'm looking forward to this story's continuance" wouldn't even be a lie

If the OP was like me, doing that would depress the hell out of me, even if it was effective and I got nice comments after.

In my experience on anon memes, people tend to not want to comment on WIPs unless it's the right pairing, right plot, right writing style, and is posted at the exact right time. You should try posting a completed fill to a different prompt (on the most recent comment page of the most recent post, if you're on a meme that has multiple prompt posts) and see if it gets you more comments. It won't make people comment on your WIP, but it might make you feel better.
