Old wank that keeps on giving

What sources of older wank still keep on giving? By this I mean people who keep doing new and awful shit, not old wank that's still amusing but has no updates.

The Clerith vs. Cloti shippers are still writing super long tl;dr manifestos on why each ship is superior and more canon. For a game that came out in 1997.
Since they're re-releasing it, I suppose we can expect plenty more years of the ongoing shipwar...

Not super dramatic, but the tenacity entertains me.

I'd be interested to see how a new era of Clerith v. Cloti will turn out with the remake, but OTOH I'm not really looking forward to it because some people these days can be vicious.

(And partially because I used to be a long-time, hardcore Clerith shipper until I replayed the game last year. Now I like both)

What boggles me the most about the shipwar is that it's so unnecessary. Technically, neither pairing is canon! That's the whole point of a game that offers you choices. So why force one to be more than the other? They're equally plausible...

I think that at the end of the day I like clerith a bit more, just because I feel like (while there's some pretty messed up stuff for both ships) there's something mildly less messed up about it. Tifa's fixation on a hero bothers me, and I admit I'm not the greatest fan of childhood-friend-romances. So I'm biased.

Oh god the shippers. Despite being a mainly Cloti shipper, I still got jumped on by fellow shippers because I didn't think they had sex under the Highwind* and that they only officially got together after AC. Apparently I hadn't come to these conclusions because I played the game and watched the first version of AC and didn't know about the side stories, I was an idiot for having been brainwashed by Clerith shippers!

(I started out prefering Clerith but still liked Cloti since adored both girls and their friendship. I had Tifa in my party when we went to City of the Ancients. I was a wreck for multiple reasons.)

* I still don't think they had sex then and there, but I've amended my headcanon to "they were on a break during AC". Listening to some fans this still means I'm a bad shipper, but whatever.

Andy Blake, since he never stops doing horrible shit. And somehow, he always manages to find a home in a new fandom where people apparently give him the benefit of the doubt instead of throwing him out the instant he shows up.
