The first season was soooooo good. And that was it. The second one was watchable and I couldn't even tell you about three or four.

nayrt

I only saw the first season, years back, but I loved it and just never got around to watching more. So, it's good I stopped where I did?

Yes. The second one was decent, but then the writer's strike happened and it never bounced back.

Unfortunately, I feel like that happened with a lot of shows around that time. Ugly Betty was another one - could've been amazing, but the writer's strike crushed it.

Not to mention the strike made reality TV even more popular...

A lot of other shows got second seasons when they probably wouldn't have normally. October Road and Pushing Daisies are two examples.

I feel like that about S2 of Pushing Daisies. I still like it, but it's not as strong-- and I feel that the series never really could have been sustained much beyond what we got.

Agreed. It wasn't even remotely the same after the strike. I didn't bother with the last season after watching the first episode of it.

But damn, so much potential! I hope the Reborn run will fix some of the more glaring plotholes or at least forget 90% of the mess from the original post-writers strike.

Same. But I loved the chemistry between all of the actors, they were really well chosen.

I felt like the first half of season 3 was an awesome return to form. And then it fell apart again and even harder this time.

Was it just me or were they more focused on pleasing Sylar fangirls than anything else?

Not the only problem, but imho a huge part of it.

While not the only problem, I think it was the BIGGEST problem. In hindsight he seems like a deadweight in several arcs.

Absolutely. I can still remember the anger and disappointment I felt when that show went downhill. ...And boy, did it not take long. That down-slide was fast.

I was SO into the first season, and the second wasn't without its charms, but after that... It was a mess.

I had such a dislike of Kring, too. Can't remember exactly what he said to piss me off so much (I think it was something about 'the fans think they want that, but what they really want is this'; he didn't seem to deal well with criticism at the time and it felt like he was insulting his fanbase).
