I think cinemasins did a whole video on why John Carter got bad reviews.

It just... made a lot of stupid decisions and changed things that shouldn't have been changed.

I don't really agree? I mostly think it boiled down to them spending too much money to the point there was no way the movie could make it back and then really bad marketing. I thought it was a genuinely good movie as well as a good adaption of the source material.

I thought the 'John Carter' movie was awesome, too - i really enjoyed it.
