Star Trek Reboots

Could have been great but let's count the fails:

-Kirk is a creepy, inexperienced, unprofessional douchnozzle

-Spock is a condescending asshole with rage issues

-Uhura is an elitist, selfish prick

-Scotty's a fucking joke

-Destruction of Vulcan and death of Amanda are basically done to hurt Spock's fee fees and never/barely brought up again

-Too much focus on Kirk and Spock (seriously, where the fuck are Chekov and Sulu???)

-Whitewashing Khan (Why couldn't Cumberbatch just be Harrison?)

-Sexism (all three named female characters shown in their underwear, two without their consent)

-Useless, underdeveloped, OOC romance

-fucking lens flare

-Recycled plots

-Bullshit conspiracy theories

-Horrible writing overall

But the concept, man,the concept of rebooting TOS is SO COOL. Sadly, the fans have done a MUCH better job of this than Paramount and the official writers EVER did.

We'll always have Karl Urban. :P

Probably the only good thing about the reboots

But then, that's because he's a HUGE fan of TOS himself (and actually GETS it)

Even, then, though -- the second movie basically turns him into a series of catchphrases

He's still not bad or anything but...he should have been MUCH more in focus

Yeah, the catchphrases was just the result of the writing/directing. Hopefully Simon Pegg will do more with the secondary characters.

So glad I never watched any of the rebooted AU.
