Yes, that's exactly what i think. He just needs some time to get back on his feet, resign himself to what happened, and figure out what he's going to do next. He's grieving, in his own way.

Dude, right there with you. I so wanted Harry being dead to be a trick, or a ruse, or *something*. Anything. I would give anything for a fix-it that figured out a good way to do that, or just avoided that altogether, somehow, or....something.

All the Harry/Eggsy fic i've read so far have been so delightful, and all of them have Harry alive but they don't really go into details or anything, maybe they just skip it, i dunno. They're all having too much fun wallowing around in Harry 'dear'ing Eggsy and pouncing on him.

When i saw the trailer for this film, i thought it would be kind of grim and action!pow!bam!! and a little gory, maybe, but then it turned into a kind of Roger Moore 'Bond'/Austin Powers kind of thing and it's just.....

NGL, I am adoring that fandom is so hell bent on keeping Harry alive that almost no one bothers to write fic with Eggsy just grieving. Typically he grieves then Harry returns (which is usually explained away in like...two sentences) and things are fine, but I've seen very few fics where Harry stayed dead. Harry staying dead does have its own uses, but this is a fandom I need happiness with. Angst, then happiness. (And I won't say that I don't enjoy all the 'dear' stuff myself, because it's hot. So, so hot. Jesus.)

Yes, it is now my headcanon! I wish someone would write it. (With or without Harry coming back from the dead to comment on it.) And I loved Eggsy from first sight, but when he swerved to avoid hitting that fox with the car I was like, "Oh, this sweet boy."

IDK if you heard but there has been talk of bringing Harry back, though it might not pan out or TPTB could ultimately decide against it. Harry and Colin were so well received that they're loathe to let him go. (Also, Taron wants him back. So, you know, Taron should be happy too.)

Exactly! We need more action/comedy films like this. I enjoy films that take themselves seriously and I can take grim, but sometimes what you need is something entirely different, something that you can enjoy watching over and over again; something that will make you happy and impress you. It was very good at that!

I know, right? It's so awesome. There isn't really anybody else to ship Eggsy with if Harry is dead. I like happy endings, myself.

Heee! I was just kinda hoping somebody would write Eggsy grieving in Harry's house, with Harry's dressing gown and china and bed linens and then finally moving on and becoming a bad-ass in his own right. :)

Wow, i wonder how they'd bring him back? That's crazy. I'd go for it, though.

It really just pisses me off, actually, when i think about it more, how whatsis name basically said 'teh gay/bi is icky!!' when he cut that scene out. Meh.

Well, technically you could ship Eggsy and Merlin or Eggsy and Roxy, but while watching the movie I was into the thought of Merlin/Roxy as well. Eggsy and Roxy are such good bros...I don't want them hooking up. (Though now I feel bad about liking Merlin/Roxy because Vaughn has said that if a second movie gets made, Merlin will be revealed as canonically gay. Which is cool and leads me to believe the problem he had with Harry/Eggsy isn't the fact that both are men, but maybe the age difference and/or the power imbalance made him uncomfortable. Either way the script hinted at romance between the two and Eggsy was DEF giving Harry some appreciative looks so Vaughn isn't changing my mind.)

There's a kink meme, if you care enough to prompt it! It's pretty dead though. :/ (The first meme I care enough to prompt on in god knows how long, and it's dead. Meh.)

...People have survived shots in the face! Er, probably not all that many, but technically it is possible, lmao. I've seen 'his glasses are bulletproof' (which, hey, his suit is too so why not?) so maybe they could go with that. (Maybe he still loses an eye but survives? Who knows.)

Oooh, really? Awesome! I think Merlin=gay is perfect. I like the idea of Roxy having a non super-spy partner. Just to mix things up. :)
And yes - if true, and that's the reason he took that other bit out, that's better.

I...need to rewatch, i can't remember where he was actually shot. I thought it was right in the forehead, but now......

Yea, I can see Merlin as gay and dig it, I just wish I hadn't read about it after I started seeing Merlin/Roxy in fic and getting into the idea. Damn you fandom. Roxy being a lesbian would be an acceptable alternative, but seems unlikely. Maybe she could be bi and find a civilian partner.

It doesn't look clear to me. There's def blood and the blood is coming from his head, but I have no clue where the bullet entered. They could probably work with that. (And the fact that no one checked his body after shooting him. You ALWAYS check the body.)

Yeah, i gotta rewatch. Woe. :)

Bi would be nice. Bi would be....unexpected.

Oh and - same friend as TW friend, i linked her to both these discussions, and she says this:

She: lovely discussion, and now i want to read Harry, maybe after months of intensive care and coma-dom, finally returning home to find Eggsy (and his mom and the bb! Eggsy took them with, remember?!) wearing his robe and continuing his traditions, and nobody had told Eggsy Harry was alive because they needed him functioning, dammit, not glued to Harry's bedside trying to talk him out of his coma.

And nobody told Harry that Eggsy was now living in his house, because Harry was still recovering and they weren't certain how recovered he was going to get, and they definitely weren't expecting him to get sick of the hospice care and just...call a cab and leave.

Me: yes, too all this!

She: so there needs to be the OMG you're alive! OMG You're LIVING IN MY HOUSE! reunion, complete with manly embracing, interrupted by Eggsy's mom coming out of the kitchen with the baby, seeing the manly embrace, and just...squeezing past with a 'DSon't mind me, I'm not here, carry on'

See, I did think of Eggsy's mom and the baby, but left that out because I'm not sure how they would fit into all this. I sort of wonder if they left out the whole 'Eggsy living at Harry's' bit because they didn't want to imply that she would learn the truth about his job, and I feel like if they're living at Harry's it'll come out sooner or later. (And I suppose it would probably have to come out sooner or later regardless, but...just imagine Harry coming home, Eggsy being shocked but not having told his mom the truth about his work, and then in walks Harry who she last saw 17 years ago after her husband died. I feel like she would flip and Eggsy and Harry would have a LOT of explaining to do, yet no one seems to write that!)

But I totally agree that if Harry was alive, Merlin would probably want it kept from Eggsy until he was sure that Harry was going to make it. (And be 'himself' afterward. Otherwise Eggsy would be a mess, even if he managed to make himself leave Harry's side; he would be distracted, which is dangerous in his line of work.)

I really do like the thought of Harry going home and unexpectedly finding Eggsy and his family though. It would be so awkward and Eggsy would probably burst into tears.

HA, yes, that's true. Though i dunno if she would remember him...i dunno if *i* would remember half the people i went to highschool with, so....who knows.

But yes, yes yes. Where is the damn fic!!

Now i'm all fired up and pining, heh.

I suppose it's possible she wouldn't, but considering the circumstances it seems likely that she might. (Sometimes even if you don't remember exactly who a person is, you KNOW you recognize them. I feel like it would be something Harry couldn't keep from her even if she didn't remember him.) Even if only for the added drama, you know? Plus...it's Colin Firth. Who wouldn't remember Colin Firth's face?

And once she was told I can't help but feel like she would have conflicted feelings about Harry, because Harry gave her son a chance to do something that got her husband killed all those years ago, but Harry was also partially responsible for getting them out of a bad situation. So I feel like Harry would be a gentleman but she might be a bit icy at first and have to be won over. (Obviously) It would eventually happen when she notices how happy Harry makes Eggsy.

If I find fic that explores a similar theme I will PM you!
