Let's talk about words we hate, not because of what they mean but because of what they sound like. Moist, for example, is a word that has been publically complained about on several occasions.

I personally don't like the word quiche. It doesn't sound appetizing so I avoided eating it for a long time before discovering the glory of the actual dish. Damn you, quiche! I could have been eating you if you didn't sound bad.

Butthole is a great word to use ironically. I don't think I've ever heard it in porn, but I would laugh if I did.

I really hate smell/smelled/smelt for some reason

I can kind of see this one. It's not a great sound, especially for a word that can have a positive connotation.

I don't know if this counts as a word, but the cat down the street has a meow that I don't like. It's harsh and grating and not appealing at all, and whenever he comes over to me he does it. It sounds kind of rude and demanding, even though it's just a meow.

I don' t know why but imagining someone getting all offended that a cat meowed at them a certain way is making me laugh really hard

I've always hated "fart" because of how it sounds but I'm usually too wary of seeming like I'm just uptight to complain about it.

Guffaw. It's just sounds ridiculous. The second syllable sounds like someone forgot what word they were saying half-way through and just put a random noise at the end.

It's too close to puke and deuce to me, and it pisses me off that it doesn't sound like the colour it makes.

Mostly because of reddit and experience with judgmental assholes who use it to make someone feel embarrassed because you disapprove of something they're doing. I have experiences in dealing with someone who disapproved of nearly everything other people seemed to have fun with and had to make sure everyone knew it.

I hate the word "supple." Aside from its typical usage, it's just... too close to nipple, I guess.

I'm also picky about the word "nude" for some reason. I don't mind nude pantyhose, or when people talk about artistic nudes. But nude shots for a magazine being described as nude shots annoys me. (Yeah, I know that doesn't make ANY sense.) I also find it annoying when news magazines use the phrase "bares all" to describe someone's "nude shot" on the cover. Maybe it's just the way people try to stir up excitement to sell a few more issues of their shitty magazine, I dunno.

Quiche is hotter than hot. (Nah.)

I really don't like liason when it's (mis?)pronounced in a not French way.
