Sherlock Holmes isn't how RDJ plays him, period. RDJ plays him like a Victorian detective Tony Stark.

Literally the only "true" Holmes is Jeremy Brett. RDJ is too goofy and Cumbersnatch is too mean.

As much as I respect the man, I think he overplayed. But I see why a lot of other people consider his take most faithful.

It's not just that Cumberbatch's Sherlock is too mean (though that's true) it's that he's too socially clueless. ACD Holmes could certainly be rude on occasion, but he wasn't lacking in social skills or unable to connect with other people when he wanted to.
