Whenever people talk about how awesome the GW fandom was, I can only remember the shipping wars and the bashing. (You can match up all the guys any which way, but none of them can be paired with women. Except Wufei for some reason.) And yet there were still pairings, for, like, everything. Including DuoxGundam.

Considering I've always been a bystander? I've only seen a few shipping wars, and very little bashing, although I definitely know they've occurred -- plus, I was v. late on arrival to the fandom. XD

It is entertaining that Wufei's the only one who gets a chick. I almost think it's because most writers don't like him. :x

Seriously weird though, I was just thinking the other day about all the terrible Gundam Wing fanfiction I used to write. Would have been around the same time I was writing terrible Outlaw Star and X-Men: Evo fics. Truely I was a casualty of the late 90s/early 2000's.

Haha. I miss the fandom not at all. Still traumatised from all the flame wars! I'm quite happy to just sit in my little corner and write the (very) occasional fic, nowadays. Most of the GW fen I know from the old days (mid- to late-nineties) are the same way.
