18. Lmao thank you. I mean, he's witty and all, and I suppose sexy in a groggy sort of way, but... honestly? People. xD;

19. Thank you. Sometimes I like pairings for their interaction, and sometimes I just like putting two people together, perhaps even unlikely ones, and see how they'd hit it off. Who cares if it's a crack pairing as long as it's IC? I don't really get why people wank about crack pairings. It's like the new 'bitch gets in the way of my OTP'. |D

21. ...How is it possible? No, really?

50. ...And your trollish ways have transferred into making this secret the most eye-bleeding as possible. I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE.

58. Lol, the whole fucking point of the series is that he's strong in a different way. WAY TO GO.

58. SECONDED. And god, I'll be the first to admit I don't care that much for Tsuna at all, but I do admire him because he tries to protect his friends. With or without the dying will flame. Fandom just likes to UKE HIM TO OBLIVION and fuck that, man.

Hah, it took me a while to see Tsuna's strength as well because it's not as obvious as the others', but the entire clue about him being the best one to be the next Vongola leader should kind of be a cluebat. Q_Q;

Uke!Tsuna makes me cry, dammit. Sure, he sometimes stutters and stuff and crumbles under pressure (although not as much as before at all), but it doesn't mean he is a fucking wet rag.

Except that he's not strong in other ways. Without interference from others, he's completely apathetic. If he really was strong in other ways, he wouldn't sit around and call himself "No Good Tsuna", he'd at least try without someone shooting him in the head with a fucking bullet.

Oh fuck me sideways till I cry.

First of all, he hasn't called himself No Good Tsuna for a while now, that I can recall. Second of all, I thought we established back in, what, CHAPTER 2 that Tsuna had LEARNED HIS LESSON about relying on the bullet.

Unless you're one of those who skipped straight to Kokuyou arc; in that case I might not blame you as much, but, seriously. Tsuna HAS grown, and it's a complete leap to conclusions to be dismissing that so easily as 'oh, he's only good for being shot with Dying Will Bullets'.

It wasn't that long ago. Funny how you skip over things you don't want to see.

Second of all, I thought we established back in, what, CHAPTER 2 that Tsuna had LEARNED HIS LESSON about relying on the bullet.

Except for the part where he never takes the initiative and continues to cower and do nothing until hit by a bullet. It took him far beyond chapter two to stop leaning on the bullets.

Funny how you skip over things you don't want to see.

Funny how you leap to conclusions about people you don't even know. (: All I was implying was that Reborn is a fairly long series and I don't have a photographic memory.

Frankly? I agree that Tsuna is an exceptionally weak character, at least currently, relative to a number of other shounen heroes; which is why I'm actually intrigued by his continual growth towards becoming The Tenth. I want to see if it CAN be pulled off. I'd find him exceptionally boring if he were DWM!Tsuna all the time--we have Hibari for our residential godmoder, tyvm. XD

Except for the part where he never takes the initiative and continues to cower and do nothing until hit by a bullet.

... Oh? Well, let's think about it for a moment. The situations that Tsuna's been coming up against? A little hard to deal with using your bare fists, and even if he has trained, he is still a 14-YEAR-OLD BOY (who is not Hibari or Ryohei, who are freaks of nature). Without the Dying Will, he CAN'T actually do very much; as such, it in fact does make more sense to 'cower and do nothing until hit by a bullet'.

It took him far beyond chapter two to stop leaning on the bullets.

Hold on. So now you're saying he's been weaned off them? Make up your mind.

Re: 58

[identity profile] antiva.livejournal.com 2008-02-01 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Sure, maybe at the beginning he called himself that because he could never get his grades up. Still, he didn't give up on school, nor on Kyoko, nor anything, despite the odds and his occasional lapses of self-doubt.

During the series, this evolves further. He goes up against Xanxus, he willingly undergoes training to better himself. He doesn't just depend on a fucking bullet, like you seem to be implying.

And how strong do you want him to be? It's not like he's extraordinarily stupid or cowardly, it's that he's NORMAL when the other characters are so out there.

Re: 58

(Anonymous) 2008-02-01 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
On the contrary, he gave up before he even started. By simply not striving, he gave up. The only reason try even came into it was because Reborn was there to bully him into it. Without that bullying, he gladly falls back into a useless state that it takes a big shock to get him out of.

Not all of that training was willing. He didn't say "Ok, let's train!" He was dragged out there and forced to defend himself. There's a difference. He might have gotten into it a little later, but it was never his intention from the start to go out there and grow.

I would like for him to have a spine and some actual strength of character. As he is, he's quite whiny. He's gotten a little better through his "growth" phase, but it's not a big change. There have been other normal characters scared of stepping up, but they at least have a spine. Tsuna doesn't.

[identity profile] antiva.livejournal.com 2008-02-01 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
No, it's not really --

ah, forget it. If you're that determined to see him as a wimp, yes, you're going to see him as one instead of look for redeeming qualities. Enjoy disliking the main character then.

Re: 58

(Anonymous) 2008-02-01 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Um... Just cause he isn't OMG!aggressive and assertive like a man is 'supposed to be' doesn't mean he's apathetic. Far from it. Tsuna cares deeply about all of his friends, and he tries hard and become stronger at using the DWF because of it. The DWF isn't why Tsuna is strong. Tsuna is strong cause he works hard and cares about others, and the strength of his flame is reflective of that. Just cause he has doubts about himself like most normal people do doesn't mean that he can't pull his own weight when he's needed.

And for the record, I was bored with Tsuna at first, but lately I've come to respect his character more without the dying will mode.

Re: 58

(Anonymous) 2008-02-01 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
The fact that he has to be bullied into action doesn't help his cause. He might care about his friends, but if someone else still has to push him into helping them, that care doesn't mean crap.

50 OP

Stuck with MSPaint, sorry. :p

But seriously, WHY is such a problem if people read in the manga section, when other people read in other sections as well? Yeah, some of the kids are obnoxious but at least they're friggin' READING.

Re: 50 OP

[identity profile] dried-frog-pill.livejournal.com 2008-02-01 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
It's a problem for all the sections. And it's a problem because it's a store not a library. I used to work in a bookstore, and you get really sick really fast of tripping over people and asking them repeatedly to move politely when all you get is blank stares in return. And I didn't even work on the bookfloor part, but still got to deal with all sorts of customers being total asshats about it. You want to read the book? Buy the damn thing and take it home.

My bookstore used to get crowds of teens (not just people reading in the manga section, mind) who would just roam the store, trash it up, be loud and obnoxious. Just keep in mind that the bookstore you're at is ultimately a business trying to make money, and the employees are people who just want to clean up early and go home. Not your personal hiding place where you can read manga for free. Move when we ask you the first time, don't pee on the floor, don't leave your trash all over the place, and we'll get along fine :)
