I know. It's like the writers got together and went, "hmm, I think Hojo wasn't belittled enough in FFVII. How do we go about fixing this?" "I know let's completely disregard what little motivation he had in the original game!" "Great! Then, in addition to being ugly, we can make him look old even at a time in which he should realistically have been in his late twenties/thirties! And top it off with the most horrendous voice imaginable!" I'm honestly surprised he didn't grow mustache just for the purpose of twirling them with his finger.

...Oh, sorry, are my character preferences showing?

Oh my god not at all, I love Hojo, and that shit was just LAUGHABLE. I was fully prepared to be as offended by his characterization as I was by everyone else (especially poor Cid), but it was so... BAD... I just couldn't take it seriously!

I mean when he started flipping his shit and zinging around the room beating the crap out of Vincent, I had to pause the goddamn game I was laughing so hard.

All he needed was to tie Lucrecia to railroad tracks and it would have been perfect.

Hahaha yes, that part was so horrible it was hilarious. How could anyone take that stuff seriously? Laughing at every cutscene was the only way I managed to stand the game. I still gave up halfway through, but I was masochistic enough to look up the rest on youtube. Honestly, all the CGI Vincent prettiness in the world could never salvage crap like this.

Personally, I'd have liked a blinking neon sign saying "THIS PERSON IS EVIL. YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO LIKE HIM. YOU CAN START DISLIKING HIM NOW," better. It would have been more subtle.

...Teaches me to like the unpopular characters. When canon bashes your favourite character, you know you've got it bad.

Hell, I didn't even think Vincent was pretty in that CG. I thought his character model in-game AND FMV was just atrocious (and probably the worst in the game, though Weiss gives him a run for his money).

Then again, I write a non-caped Vincent who's a quiet, kinda snotty guy who likes guns and sucks at close-range fighting. So I guess I'm in the minority.

Overall though, Hojo definitely gets the biggest shaft. Poor guy has to inhabit the body of a Dragonball reject.

Frankly, though, what bothers me the most is the hair. How the hell do you get your hair to do that. Obviously, GOTH>PHYSICS. And the cape. Did he get stuck in barbed wire after the end of FFVII?

Yeah, the hair is the worst =\ I could overlook body shape enough when I was running around like goddamn Dante Sparda firing ridiculous guns (wtf three barrels), but that HAIR. He's not the only one, either! All the color bad guys or whatever were just as bad, if not worse.
