Officially, they split up because she didn't like him traveling so much for his job and the higher profile life of a television personality. Unofficially, eh. I've heard rumors that they were both heavy into drugs and drinking and that they were just bad for one another. But I've seen photos of her and while she's not hideous, she looks like a middle aged housewife. Definitely not a lithe, flexible hottie like wife #2.

I don't know anything about her, but that's true about Anthony. He doesn't shy away from the topic at all. But as for his new wife, from their twitter accounts and whatnot, they seem to share a lot of the same interests and really love one another.

I love Bourdain's shows, but I've always wondered why he and his first wife split up. Your reason sounds pretty plausible.
