44. My brother made me proud by completely getting it. He went with a friend and the friend's girlfriend, and when the girlfriend complained that they never find out where the monster comes from or what it is or whatever, he railed into her, all, "That's not the point!" And then he proceeded to go into this explanation about how it's about the little flailing people in the streets who don't know anything and what they would do and how they would react if our hometown was attacked, and he genuinely made me want to hug the life out of him with fannish glee.

I adored the movie AND the camerawork, and I was one of those lame dorks who had to leave because it was nauseating me.

60. Heh. Well, that's because they're perfect for one another. ;)

61. You know, I've thought of the "If she were a man ..." comparison before, but the Spike comparison is surprisingly apt.

Oh, yeah, I'm a complete spoiler whore, so I pretty much ran right home and read my friends' reactions and watched a crappy bootleg and caught up. :)

I may go attempt to see it again this weekend, though. I have a gift certificate for the local theater burning a hole in my pocket.

I love your brother. So much. I try to explain it to people who gripe about that, but I'm not articulate enough. BUT IT'S TRUE. That movie creeped me out way more than ANY monster movie. And made me cry. I'm not ashamed.
