[My Name is Earl]

What a weird phrase. Can't you think without being asked? It reminds me of those people who make stupid and unoriginal arguments and then smugly say they "want to make you think" like you can't do that without their help.

What a weird comment; it seems to proceed from a disturbing degree of literal-mindedness.

I haven't seen the show, but I've heard that it's full of scientology dogma. Maybe she's picking up on that.

Clams aren't big on critical thinking, so the story goes.

It's a simple show about a simple man. If you want to think, do it yourself or go find a show that asks the questions for you.

Also dude's a Scientologist

I'd totally agree with calling it "emotional comfort food" -- at least the first two seasons. It's goofy and sweet and good-hearted for the most part, and doesn't make demands on the viewer.

For a dark and edgy drama it has really failed to hit the mark, seems to be almost as if it is meant to be a feelgood sitcom. I hear you, you dark and edgy roller.

Hahaha.

... I think your expectations for My Name is Earl are a little too high, but I guess you already know that. Not all media is challenging, nor is it meant to be, nor should it be.

Yeah, I hated when my sister went through a phase where she watched this show constantly. God, I hated this show.

Number 234 on my list, ruined a chick's tv watching by providing a show her sister enjoyed.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-23 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
I see what you did there!

(But how to set it right and get that karma back?)

(Anonymous) 2015-07-23 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, I miss this show!
