Re: My question

Why is that an important thing that anyone should care about or take seriously? Why should that affect my opinion of any other human being?

If someone rates girls (or anyone) on a scale, it should affect your opinion of them. Otherwise, it is not important.

I would disagree

~10/10 would bang is just another meme form of saying "this person was superbly attractive to me"

Yes, some people go the extra creepy mile and literally grade people on scales in comparison to each other and probably keep charts in their basements, but someone going "omg I met a cute guy today" "how cute" "like 8/10" is pretty obviously just indicating how comparatively attractive they found this hypothetical guy

Like, it's a meme form of expressing attractiveness

Yeah, the basic concept of attaching a number to your subjective feeling of attraction is not bad

Anything more detailed and complex than that is bad and dumb, though. And anyone who uses it as a noun to define a person is real stupid.

Yeah I wouldn't bat an eye at "I met a girl today 9/10 brown hair super cute smile super sweet personality she's amazing"

"I ran into a 9/10 female at the store today" would make me roll my eyes

Hmm, good point re: 10/10 would bang, but I always read that as more ironic.

Whereas I have encountered people IRL who actually rate other people and will date a "7 or 8" but not a "5 or 6." Note that these people are almost uniformly unattractive in my rather subjective opinion.

Yeah it's the broad categorization or acting like it goes deeper than a subjective judgment that gets stupid, or acting like "7" is an objective group that other people are supposed to recognize

I think there are men who try to punish women for being "lower" then an arbitrary point on their personal scale.

Come to think of it, that's probably Why the op is so creeped out.

Exactly.
