I know it probably doesn't seem this way to you, and it may seem like Dethtoll is being oversensitive but a crash can really seriously affect people and make them lash out if they feel their pain is being minimised. The same with any kind of trauma.

You may not have intended to upset him, but you did, and I'd hope you're the kind of person who doesn't want to go around upsetting people. You made (what I think was) a trivial mistake and you caused unintentional upset. The right thing to do is to apologise. And then perhaps Dethtoll will be gracious enough to apologise for calling you an asshole.

I do think you should apologize -- no one will think less of you. It takes strength of character to admit you were wrong, it's not weakness.

Totaled the car. Frame was bent out of shape, important parts were knocked loose, and both sides of the vehicle were smashed (I hit the wall, spun 180, and hit the wall again.) I was REALLY shook up and depressed for a good couple months.

Even without that context, this thread is CALLED "your lowest moment" and I explicitly named my accident. A non-asshole would have thought twice before posting something so shitty, and a non-egomaniac wouldn't refuse to apologize.

It's pretty bad when I honestly think it it's my fanclub before I see his name.

Just wanted to reassure you that I don't think you're being unreasonable here. I'd hate that too. I also don't think the default assumption when you hear about a car crash should be that it was no big deal and something that a person will like hearing snide jokes about.

It's honestly worse because I'm not rich, so I couldn't replace the car that easily. I've gone seven months having to rely on other people to get anywhere and none of them are reliable. I've had to cancel ALL my doctor's appointments indefinitely because of this shit. Here we are 7 months later and I'm finally getting a new car, and what do I get? Fucking Herpy fucking making a fucking Herpypost.

That sounds awful. I'm still working on getting my license (failed the first road test and the DMVs here are understaffed lately so it takes a long time to get in again) so I know how frustrating it is to depend on other people to get around.
