Silent hill secret!!
:D

Anyways, Brookhaven is obviously a mental institution.
It wouldn't make sense for Mary to go there, since her disease was physical.

There were two excuses for this in the Brookhaven theory: 1. Mary was depressed because of her disease, therefore mentally ill. 2. There is evidence of Brookhaven being a general hospital in SH3.

Well, in that case Brookhaven should have been filled with terminally ill patients.

I have a feeling the fact that it's a mental hospital that James goes to has more to do with his disconnect with reality than anything Mary did while she was alive.

Hm, would someone mind giving me the rundown on this particular theory? I must not have been active enough in the fandom to begin with; I've never heard of this.

It's really just that at some point, Mary went to and stayed at Brookhaven hospital.
It's not a super complicated theory, so I don't really know why it apparently caused so much wank.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-24 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. Was there anything they were using in-game that they thought insinuated that? I can't remember any connections, myself.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-24 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
My first thought reading the secret was if the theory had something to do with the monsters representing Mary? Maybe their faces twisted because James killed her by putting a pillow over her head?

But honestly idk.

The theory hinged on the belief that the diary on the Brookhaven rooftop is Mary's (supposedly, if you read the original Japanese version, it's very similar to her letter to James) and that the Otherside transitions only happen in places that Mary's memories influence.

It doesn't make any sense to me. If she'd stayed there, they would've made a bigger point of it in the game imo. But certain circles of the fandom STILL treat this theory as gospel for some reason.

Did TwinPerfect spread that theory? Cause man, fuck those guys and their "superiority." Them and their fans are the worst and are probably the biggest contributers to the fandom's toxic behavior.

It was started by someone on the Silent Hill Heaven forums, but for all I know, someone else might have claimed it.
