Are there really that many problems with the DC Metro? I was there for a summer and I found it amazing compared to the horror that is the Boston T system.

In a thread a few months ago about people's experiences visiting other FS-ers' homes, everyone who responded to my DC thread said the Metro was great. I was... surprised, to say the least. Bitching about Metro (and how it's going to be the cause of all our deaths) is a favorite pastime for us natives.

Ah. Well, death isn't good. But when I compared it to the Boston subway system, while it was more expensive, it seemed better in every other conceivable way. The trains are actually kept up in good condition. Things move fast. There are enough trains so you don't get as many massively overpacked trains. The trains are more likely to go where you need to go. And the ride is fairly smooth, at least when compared to the Boston subway, particularly the green line.
