(Anonymous) 2015-07-24 12:35 am (UTC)(link)My problem with it was "....you're a random stranger on the internet who doesn't know this person or their friends or family. It's not your place to lecture the person about it."
Maybe it's because since I was a kid I was taught to not get involved in something if I don't know both sides of the story or have nothing to do with it, unless I KNOW it will involve someone getting hurt".
Those anons cannot speak for the loved ones of the person they were speaking to. They have nothing to do with them . If there is a problem it is up to that person's loved ones to talk to them. Even if the non-driving person didn't listen it is up to them or someone else in their life to deal with that.
Not some stranger who doesn't know any of them and isn't effected by any of it.
For me this isn't about whose side was right and whose was wrong. It was that the people asking the nondrivers about their transportation were shoving their nose in someone else's business to lecture them.
Maybe if the non-drivers had brought up something that indicated they were taking advantage of their loved ones, or that they even fully depended on people all the time in the first place. That doesn't seem like casual conversation to me. It looks like someone bursting in looking for an opportunity to lecture them about how no one owes them anything.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-24 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)It was basic projection tbh. That person has a problem with their friends but can't talk to them, so it's easier to take it out on random anons online.
