As are the people who hate on Harry/Hermione and Zutara shippers.
My teenage self shipped them. I was convinced those two ships would be endgame. I was, however not in fandom (especially not the English speaking one, cause it's not my native language), so I didn't know about the shipwars (didn't even know what that was tbh, in the beginning I was only allowed half an hour online a day).
But somehow every time I just mention it, I'm automatically part of the crazy crowd that existed then. :/

lol I hear you on Zutara, though I was never actually in the fandom myself. I just was rooting for the ship to be endgame. But say that in any general fandom space, you get insane hate. F!S has a few ships that I've noticed get this crazy reaction, where the anti-shippers just go out of their way to be assholes. That Teen Wolf one (forgot the name, don't watch it) was like that back when it was popular, every thread ever would inspire that vitriol. I think it tends to be gay pairings that get that especially (because I guess people are offended at the very notion that people want it to become endgame in canon), I know Korrasami got that until it actually became canon. I don't know about Harry/Hermoine, wasn't really in the fandom, but I definitely believe that there must've been insane drama when the books were finishing up.

There's nothing wrong with shipping John/Sherlock. And there's nothing morally wrong with thinking they're going to be end-game, though I would be beyond astonished if that actually happened.

It's not the shipping. It's not even the tin-hatting. It's the bullying shenanigans pulled by a small number of Johnlock fans (see the links provided by mek below).

And sure, I could understand it, but it doesn't sound like we're talking about the ship itself at all then. And in my years of being on f!s, every time Sherlock is discussed, f!s lets out its massive hate!boner for Johnlock and its shippers. Glad I'm not in the fandom, it sounds like the anti-shippers are just as nasty as the actual shippers are. On f!s, that's definitely true, anyway. On both sides, it sounds like a crowd that takes fandom and shipping way, way too seriously.

I'm not in the fandom, although I do quite like the show, because the fandom makes me nervous, but while there is batshit on both sides, that particular subset of Johnlock fans do seem to take it further than everyone else.

But in any case, staying away from the fandom is probably a smart move.
