Well the characters in AoT are white European for the most part. So no, their race doesn't match the manga.

But it's a stupid thing to complain about. They localized the movie so they could cast Japanese actors, big deal. It's a Japanese manga so... what's wrong with that??

It's way less weird than when they had a Japanese guy playing in ancient Roman in Thermae Romae.

Argh Thermae Romae.

I also can sympathize with making a Japanese movie and really only having Japanese actors. There ARE some non-Japanese actors in Japan, but they just rarely have the starpower... or even acting training that the Japanese stars do. To some extent, it just can't be helped, when you need someone who can speak Japanese fluently. It's one thing to get a few actors, another to get an entire cast, so Attack on Titan changing races is a bit more understandable. But when the actors are SUPPOSED to be a different race (like Thermae Romae) it's awkward no matter how understandable.

I watched that and I could totally see them as romans. only thing that annoyed me were the glued-on beards.
