Luckily, it's not too late! If you remotely enjoy video games, Pokemon is very easy to enjoy for adults, too. Maybe not the anime, but definitely the games. You can play it semi-casually and it's not much different from the sort of game you'd play on your phone, since it doesn't really have much plot.

dunno, the Pokemon craze in the late 90s and early 2000s was definitely something you had to be "there" go get... and I loved the anime as a kid, collected the cards like crazy, but never played the gameboy game.

That's just my experience though. It's entirely possible that they can enjoy it as an adult.
