News flash: you never lose your friend to a video game. You lose them because the two of you change and no longer have compatible personalities and 99% of the time when someone blames the canon it's because they don't want to admit they fucked up.

Yeah, that's not true. It'd be nice if it was. It'd mean the world makes sense. But sometimes people get really caught up in frivolous shit and let their friendships go to the wayside because of it.

LOLNOPE. Sometimes your friend just has issues being dragged out of the fictional world they're enraptured in enough to realize, "Oh, hey, I have responsibilities, like maintaining friendships and taking care of myself."

I don't have a friend like that, noooope! (In this case, it wasn't fandom, but a poorly-chosen college major she wasn't cut out for.)
