I don't want any Marvel stuff to fail but I do get so tired of the Marvel stans who act so smug about how Marvel is obviously superior to DC in every way. I don't know enough about comics to have a preference (I keep meaning to look into them more but then I get distracted by other things) but that attitude makes me want to spend more time on DC.

I've seen way more smug DC fans. at least on F!S (where there is only one stan for DC or Marvel and we all know who that is). tumblr really doesn't have that many DC vs Marvel shit. Reddit does but who are the smug fans depends on the article that has been linked.

In sj circles I've come across many more people arguing that Marvel is unequivocally better on social issues and therefore DC is utterly worthless because we all know that "not as good" = "horrible trash", even if we're accepting their premise. It's just part of the all or nothing thinking that I hate and I happen to have seen it more from Marvel fans. I'm sure there are people who are just as annoyed by DC fans because they've come across different people. It's just that the DC stanning I've come across is more typical fanboy stuff rather than being smug about how morally correct it is.

Really? The SJ circles I've seen are all on DC being better on social issues right now. Especially after AOU which was "DESTROYED NATASHA'S CHARACTER!" Now they are all about how awesome harley quinn and wonder woman is going to be.

Ah that could be. I don't go looking for stuff about comics or things based on comics so everything I've seen is what's leaked into discussions that weren't specifically related to that. I've heard complaints about AoU but not the claims that DC is better.

Oh god, I can imagine Natasha vs Harley Quinn arguments and I'm already shaking my head.

Since DC announced Suicide Squad which iirc has like 4 female leads, the SJWs are currently touting DC as the leader in the Representation Race.

I just wish we could talk about whether things are good or not without counting social justice points.

My personal pet peeve is people only bringing up something sj-related that was done well so that they can use it to tear down some competing movie or whatever. I'm all about people celebrating when these things are done right and I hate to see it only mentioned as an argument about how bad something else is. They can't just enjoy the release of a superhero movie with something approaching gender parity, no they have to make sure people who like something different know that it's inferior.

Painfully true.
Then again, give them 2 days after the movie is released to point out how 'problematic' something in the movie was and then DC will be back in the doghouse.
Because again, we can't every say that something is nice. If it's not 10000000000000% perfecter than perfect, it's absolute shit.
