My experience with the "quite liking" vs "disliking" issue is that, for people who completely dislike a thing, they'll generally say their piece then leave. But the "quite liking" people will hang around since they ARE interested in the piece of media. And they'll still have criticisms of it too. And there's nothing wrong with that.

But...speaking as someone who loves Star Wars, and, in particular the prequels, having fans around who are constantly criticizing something you like gets a little tiring. It's especially annoying when you have people say "I know the prequels are terrible, but I still enjoy these couple of aspects..."

Those people still have a right to be in fandom, of course, because a big part of fandom is discussion and critique but sometimes you just want to flat out squee and get excited over something.
