I normally start with all the shit I don't actually need first, so I don't have to go hunting for things during the move.

I want to say I'm organised, but my last move was so rushed I didn't have time to be. It got pretty nuts. There were many unlabelled boxes containing some weird combinations of things. I opened a giant box to find my slippers sitting in a frying pan and nothing else.

My only real advice is that it will take you at least twice as long as you think it will take and you will probably run out of tape and boxes because it's easy to underestimate the amount of crap you own. Just get in there and start doing it.
