See, I feel that's a rather extreme case. I have no doubt it happened to you, but it could happen no matter the fandom in question. If the person has obsessive tendencies and loves the thing, it can take over their life for a while.

I've (thankfully) never known anyone that took it to that extreme, but I've seen people who stop caring about all their old fandoms once they get into a few one.

I hope you eventually get your friend back! I feel like it is a bit much to stop contacting you altogether... An email once in a while would at least be nice.

but I've seen people who stop caring about all their old fandoms once they get into a few one.

I know it happens because it's happened to me in the past. Right now I can barely even look at SPN or Transformers because they're both still too recent, but then I feel the same about DBZ and that's over 12 years ago now.

See, I wouldn't say I stop caring about old fandoms...but I get really enthusiastic about my 'current' one and the other stuff gets put on the back-burner. I don't think about them much, I don't search them out... I focus on one fandom at a time. It's easier for one thing.
