I like how Rivers of London handle this, while the heroes are certainly (trying to be) discreet really it is just that most people are too wrapped up in their own lives to notice that a wizard just threw a fireball across Oxford Circus. Probably a street performer, they'd say. I also like that the author is kinda, sorta, acknowledging that that their masquerade is unravelling fast too. Technically he has one character on remand awaiting trial for crimes in which magic is going to be a serious part of the charges and evidence, and I'm curious as to how he handles it.
