Yea, I can see where you're coming from. I'm not determined to hate the film (and would rather not; the MCU has been a lot of fun for me and I want to see it succeed), I'm just...cautious and kind of wary given the little info we have. (And I do realize we have very little, and Marvel can still surprise us. Things do not need to be the same as comic canon.)

I even agree with you on GOTG; that film was fantastic. Ant-Man I haven't seen yet, but I'll get around to it eventually. I've heard mixed reviews, but I am also one of the ten people who prefer the first Captain America to most the other MCU films, so my opinions don't always match fandoms.

I didn't get much enjoyment out of AOU, but it had moments. I'm hoping Civil War takes more from Winter Soldier than AOU or Avengers.

Which fanon do you hope gets jossed?

ayrt

Helpless, completely broken, childlike woobie Bucky Barnes.

And the "Rumlow's not a bad guy, really he's not" stuff I run across in various places.

Those two are the big ones.

See, I love Bucky and can kinda see where people are coming from with the 'broken' thing (wouldn't call him COMPLETELY broken though), but he's not helpless (...well, again, in a way I suppose I could see that as TWS because literally all he did was follow orders and if he started to question his mission or do anything his captors didn't like they would just erase his memory; he couldn't really escape, but of course he's extremely skilled and can mostly take care of himself if he's given the chance) and though he seemed like a bit of blank slate as The Winter Soldier, I wouldn't exactly call him childlike. Bucky is changed now, but I think he'll (mostly) go back to being his 'normal' self eventually. (With a lot of baggage and emotional trauma, but you know...that's life.)

I have never seen "Rumlow isn't a bad guy" though. Back when I was in fandom people wrote Rumlow as a horrible rapist and a sadistic fuck.
