Speaking from my own experience, anon, I think you dropping off the face of the planet was a shitty thing to do to your friend, regardless if you met her online. The fact that you "talked every day about [your] RL problems, knew where each other lived and had a pretty strong friendship," up until you "stopped talking one day" was a careless dick move. I know I would be hurt, and if you ever become friends again, it would never be the same.

I actually don't remember why I stopped talking--it was years ago, but there was a specific reason. Not a fight, something in real life. I just don't remember it.
