Rick/Evie was written so badly in the third Mummy movie. It was horrific. They went against every ounce of characterisation that the first movie set up so well, just for some unconvincing plot point that made no sense.

AYRT

I usually pretend the third one doesn't exist. Mostly because they changed Evie. If it's not Rachel Weisz, it doesn't count.

The action scenes were mostly okay, but I really wish I hadn't seen Mummy 3 because it tainted Rick/Evie for me always. The first five minutes was so good! I wish they'd just stuck with the ancient Chinese side of it.

The third one doesn't exist. I mean, not even the franchise acknowledges it most of the time; the single box Mummy collector's set actually has The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, and The Scorpion King.
