You know, I used to think this. Then I started grumping that 95% of fanfic was poorly written, and yet it had far more comments/likes/kudos/whatever. Then I realized.... what I like it vastly outnumbered. Yeah, 95% of people are writing stuff I hate, and 95% are reading it and liking it. It's not like the author is sitting there going "I'm going to really annoy Anon#87 with this misspelling!"

They're going "This is what most people write like and what most readers like."

And I'm secure enough in myself to be ok with that. They can keep on keepin' on, and I will do my own thing, and everyone wins.
