Headcanon is when you fill in a gap with something you imagined, not when you contradict actual canon.

No it isn't. I have a headcanon where Andtraste was a Silmaril. How is that filling in gaps? There are no gaps in Dragon Age that need to be filled by a shiny stone from LotR, but I do it anyway.

A headcanon can be as simple as an AU idea that is your pet favourite and most dominant personal version of the plot.
