Thoughts on Jamberry?

(Anonymous) 2015-07-30 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I signed up to sell Jamberry nail wraps... because someone in my inner circle did and wanted a buddy. I have no expectations of making a career out of this. I'll be amazed if I sell anything, because I have no desire to be a pushy salesperson.

What about it, FS? Do you like the pretty nail wraps, or not?

I have literally no idea about this company or product

but it sounds like MLM, and MLM is generally trash and you shouldn't do it. It's a waste of money.

Basically. As I said, I don't expect to make money off it.

You won't make any money and you will also waste your money in the sense that MLM products will pretty much always provide less value for money

but if you're cool with that and you're confident you're not going to get sucked in, then w/e, it's not my money

Eh, it's not a bad value if you're interested in the product (at the moment they're holding my interest - they have neat designs). I'm not required to maintain an inventory beyond what I personally wear, so there's that too.

I don't like anything that's sold via MLM. This is nothing on you personally, OP, it's just an approach I loathe for many reasons.

Good to know, I guess, although I'm confused why people seem to think I'd take it personally.

Well... probably because a lot of people get into stuff like this thinking that it'll be a great opportunity to make some money quickly and easily and they haven't really considered (or don't want to consider) how obnoxious it is to impose on friends and family to buy the stuff. So when friends and family balk or are honest about how they don't like MLM schemes, the person gets upset and defensive. That's been my experience, anyway.

Re: Thoughts on Jamberry?

(Anonymous) 2015-07-31 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Well, yeah. That's why I said in the OP that I don't intend to that.

... yes, which is why I wasn't accusing you of doing this. You expressed confusion as to why people thought you'd take other peoples' dislike of MLMs personally, and I gave you a possible reason.

Okay... thanks for that. Still, if they'd read the post, I don't see how that explanation would apply. I dunno.

Probably because they don't know you and don't wish to offend you. Even when a person seems chill and assures you they're cool... sadly that doesn't mean that's true. So people were just being polite, I guess.

Oh. Good point, I guess.

I never used Jamberry but I looooooove NCLA's nail wraps. I know the two are different but yeah there's lots of us out there who like pretty nail wraps, so good luck!

Thanks. :) I took a quick peek at NCLA, and they're a little different, but those look cool too.

I have some that I bought through a friend and I like them fine. I usually wear the wraps for 2 weeks before they start to peel, and considering that I usually chip my nail polish within an hour, that seems like a good return on investment. And they take only a little longer to apply than nail polish, so it's not overly arduous. The only downside for me is that sometimes they wreck my nails when I take them off. I don't know if it has to do with the condition of my nails when I applied them, because it doesn't always happen, but when it does it's aggravating.

I haven't had that problem so far. Are you just peeling them off? The website has a few suggested removal options that are a little gentler: https://www.jamberry.com/removal/

AYRT -- Weirdly, my nails have done better when I peel them off. I've done their recommended steps and my nails have been way worse.

It'd be an interesting experience, IMO.
My sis's friend was selling some cosmetics, like Avon or something, for some time, and it was perfectly fine.
