That is how I feel about the Cecil the Lion bit AND the two Florida boys that have gone MIA. I am over these things and am going back to reading articles about the Iran deal (among other worthier subjects).

What news stories are you tired of seeing anywhere? (Can be social or traditional media; I'm not picky.)

I'm just so confused why this lion? It's not like trophy hunting is uncommon.

the lion wasn't any lion, he wasn't supposed to be open for hunting. had a gps tracker collar on and everything. the "hunter" wasn't hunting, he was poaching

yeah, but maybe besides the gps collar that isn't uncommon either

thats what makes this one different though which is what anon asked. usually poachers do it in secret like with rhinos and elephants, they go for animals that aren't obviously being tracked, grab what they came to get and run away

it wasn't only poaching it was incredibly stupid blatant poaching that was noticed right away. that's why its getting attention

because his name was Cecil and I can't imagine a more adorable name for a lion

He was friendly and popular with tourists. It was like poaching a zoo animal.

It's not just the status of the lion, but also the fact that this Palmer guy apparently circumvented a bunch of Zimbabwean laws so that he could claim his poaching was technically legal. The two locals he hired are facing charges but he seems to have gotten off so far.

ia on the Cecil thing. I'm vegetarian and I hate cruelty to animals, but I find it embarrassing how many people are wailing about on and on this story when they never show any interest in stories about human rights, police brutality, racism etc
