I'm the anon who was asking about de-lurking after 20 years of radio silence. I've been lurking in online fandom since I was a preteen with aol dialup. In all that time, I've never posted anywhere un-anon. Actually, prior to 3-4 years ago, all I did was lurk. I might as well have been a ghost. I never commented on anything. Not only that, but I never had a social media account of any kind. No livejournal, facebook, myspace, geocities page, twitter ... nothing.

I'm trying to reconcile my anxiety with the idea of getting a tumblr, but I don't want it linked to my real life in any way. Which is weird, because despite also being an anxious mess irl, all my coworkers, my tiny family, and my few friends know I'm a nerd, and it's never been something I hid. It's far more likely that no-one will notice one more fangirl on tumblr than that I'll get sucked into stupid fandom drama.
