Could you put the spoiler/trigger stuff on the weekend then, please? They are more likely to have something interesting in them. And can you ignore all the people calling me a troll please. Not trolling, and I don't think it is fair that anyone who asks for a change ought to be called one, can you take some sort of moderator action on that too please.

I don't see a compelling reason to switch to weekends, or why them being on weekends is any better or worse than them being on Friday. (Wouldn't you then say Friday is boring? If not, why not?)

I am ignoring them! I'd advise you to do it too. "Fairness" is not really a measure I'm going to take action on, but I'll stop it if it gets too wanky.

As I can never be online on Friday afternoon/evening, tbh I wouldn't mind if the wanky stuff was moved to Sat/Sun XD
Then again, as I can't usually be online unless the post is relatively early, I'd hardly expect things to be changed for me.

But Friday isn't actually "the wank secrets" or anything, it's just spoiler/trigger ones. The biggest difference would be you get spoilers on weekends.

It's true. I do think sometimes the triggers tend to get more drama, but not always - you can't really know either way, I guess.

They are the ones that tend to have some meat to them though. It might not be the intention of them being deliberately wanky, but they do have that as a by-product.

No, not really. Last Friday had that one OUAT secret, but the secret about autistic headcanons midweek that wasn't marked for Friday caused way more wank than the OUAT one if I recall right.

That is kind of the point. Just law of averages says that something that is wank worthy is more likely to crop up midweek on its own, and Friday is the day with secrets that are also likely to provoke discussion. It is all for the people who can come online late. Shifting the ones that are more likely to be provocative to the weekend would be giving the weekenders a fighting chance. I know there are no guarantees on anything, but five to two is going to favour the fives, so one little thing to give a chance to the twos isn't too much, surely?

I don't know which are going to be wanky, though. That autistic headcanon secret I sure wasn't expecting that much random anger about, and wouldn't have moved to the weekend if I were trying to predict fallout anyway.

No offence, but I think you are getting a bit too hung up on that specific example. I'm just saying there is better chance of both a random spontaneous wank exploding midweek and also arising from the freaky fridays stuff too. Shifting the latter to the weekend gives a better chance of getting one of them.

So...there is a better chance of there being a wanky secret on a weekday. Are you sure it isn't because the week has FIVE days as opposed to TWO weekend days?

Kinda my point, yeah. Better chance, plus a day with secrets which have a better chance of going wanky too. I just want to take the latter and shift it to the weekend so one of the early days has a better chance of going wanky than on mere numbers.

This doesn't actually make any sense. On average, every day of the week is going to have an equal number of boring and interesting secrets by any individual standards. The weekend isn't treated any differently. Aside from triggers/spoilers, approximately 2 out of 7 times, the Big Wanker of the week, so to speak, will be on a weekend. (Maybe even a little more, since Friday has a smaller number of regular secrets. I personally don't think the trigger/spoiler secrets are actually any more exciting than the others on average.)

The weekday posts are all up too late for me to participate in, so I would like at least one day in which I could join in the active threads. That has to be one of the weekend ones. The odds are better that the five weekdays will have something interesting in them anyway, but the weekend ones attract a different audience, who often cannot participate in the week, and it would be nice if those days could have at least a fighting chance of making sure there was something discussion worthy. It is two days versus five, and the odds mean that most of the discussion will be on those five days. It is just tilting the odds a little so that the weekenders can have a chance of something indepth too.

As for modding, I would suggest that this whole section be just for talking to yourself. Keep the peanut gallery to the GC, there is no real need for any thread in this section have anyone except yourself, Case, and the person who contacted you. It would ensure a clearer line of communication.

Like I keep saying though, Fridays aren't necessarily "wanky." Half the time there's one or two secrets about something potentially triggering, and the rest are just spoilers. Moving it wouldn't actually solve anything, and I can't predict which secrets are going to cause wank or which are going to be ignored. Wank spawns from secrets you don't expect to be wanky at all.

I think I'll start adding a note to not chime in with troll-calling, yeah. But sometimes people do step in with relevant or helpful stuff, so I'm not going to say nobody ever.

Thank you for the bit about stepping on the troll-calling, I think that will make a difference in fostering some community cohesiveness and ending the anon hate. Thank you.

I respectfully disagree on the Friday secrets not being the wank ones. They may not intentionally be so, but they have a greater chance of being just for the sheer value of having either challenging or spoileriffic content. It would be nice to boost the chance for those of us who can only participate on weekends having something to really provoke discussion.

And on that note, I would like to apologise for having my first post seem so confrontational. It is just that it is frustrating not being able to participate in the active discussion phase of the weekday posts and then these last two nights to have been the weakest of the secrets, again. It just seems to be every weekend they are a bit bland and I miss out, so I was frustrated. I just think that shifting the posts that have a higher chance of being discussion worthy to the weekends would be good for those who always miss out during the week. Again, sorry for being so confrontational.

I do get where you're coming from, I'm just not sure of a way to resolve it (and I genuinely don't think front loading spoilers is the answer, for other reasons too - more people are here on weekends and avoiding spoilers is that much harder). Plus I don't know which secrets are going to be wanky - sometimes one secret that mention a topic passes by without any notice, and another that mentions the same one explodes. A lot depends on who's around that that day and what their opinions are.

Case in point, someone stating they definitely believe Courtney Love killed Kurt Cobain could explode in wank. It might also not. It's definitely a strong opinion, just one that (presumably?) doesn't interest you. Even the top/bottom wank is a classic one that has been wanked about before but again (presumably?) doesn't interest you. How am I supposed to decide this, and by whose scale, and how do I know you'll like it?

ETA: Maybe some kind of middle ground? I don't want to cherry-pick for weekends, but if stuff like "I ship this" comes up, I can shuffle it back in for later, since I don't think people would mind (1-2 out of ~60 is a lot less than 1-2 out of ~20). It won't necessarily mean the weekends end up with the wanky secrets, though.

Thank you. I'm not sure if you are completely getting my point, but I don't see much point trying to belabour it. I think any effort might help though, so thank you for shifting the I ship it and the obscure fandoms back out to midweek.

For the record, obscure fandoms didn't enter into the equation until you put them in just now (?), but that's another thing I'd hesitate to judge. Mostly because if we went with "only fandoms I KNOW are big" you'd just get MCU Saturday.

I'll keep the time difference thing in mind, though!

And Star Trek, Stargate, DCU... actually, no keep the DCU to the weekdays oh god keep it away :) but you know it doesn't take a pop culture connoisseur to know see that some are more widely known that others. Just toss a couple of the biggies our way, please.

Just because you don't like the DCU doesn't mean it's not a huge fandom. You don't get to make demands that huge fandoms get more coverage at a time more convenient to you BUT NOT THAT ONE.
