I'm actually in a pretty similar place to you, actually. I got my current job as a victim of the economy - it was what was hiring, and I had the basic qualifications. After 2 years of unemployment, I just needed a job. I went to school for something completely different (though not something I'm really interested in going back to). I'm good at my job too, but it's not fulfilling, and like you, I'm hoping it's temporary. Now I'm certainly looking for something that matches my personality more.
Since that will necessitate a change in career, I'm definitely hoping for some alignment between my skills and employers' needs!

It's just, I can't be passionate about this, and don't see myself being there in the (further) future.
(Also, I'm in Belgium, most of us speak at least to languages, so that's less impressive).
