cool! I didn't know about that, and as a japanese studies major I'm pretty tired of the japanese ninja thief-trope, myself. sure, tali already went a bit in the direction of muslim veiling, but the story being earth-centred, might aswell include a muslim character. And as a thief? there is a ton of rogues in arabic folklore to build on, and the whole disguising-thing works great with the veil. Why don't more games use it, actually? Like some said above, thieves and sneaks wear hoods to hide their identity. A hijab or a niqab could serve the same purpose.

The problem with that is that it's actually one racist stereotype that Arabs are swindlers and crooks.
