Well, I agree with your points about how the show would be better if it was set in the 90s and with characters not being brought back to life, but you lost me at Sam and Dean being portrayed as kids/teens. One thing I always liked is that Supernatural tended to focus on the bonds of family (that didnt stop at blood) being a very important, that platonic and familial love could be just as valued as romantic love while holding the attention of viewers. Most teen shows have a tendency for adding in the drama and romance, and for once I'm glad a popular fantasy show skips all that awkwardness that comes with teenage hormones. If one of the main characters has a thing for another, they just go for it and get it out of the way and thats refreshing.

I'm not going to lie, I initially watched Supernatural hoping it'd fill the Buffy void.

It's not even close to filling the Buffy void, but I got addicted anyway.

I'm a little confused.

Buffy, Malcolm in the Middle, and Blues Brothers are all very tonally and thematically different. Do you want something like any one of them, something like a mash-up of all of them, or something with elements of each? I mean, the sibling relationships in each of them are kind of disparate.

I like your version best. I was really into SPN when it started. Hell, two hot guys in a bitching car solving paranormal mysteries is like a dream show. It was Scoobie Doo for grown ups. Then they started with all the angel/demon crap and everyone was dying then coming back to life BS, heaven and hell. It wasn't about two hot guys, a bitching car, and solving paranormal mysteries anymore. I quit watching after they started adding all that extra stuff. I would love for them to go back to what they were the first couple of seasons.

Agreed about loving the format of the show in the first few seasons, though not so much on liking OP's version. (It isn't personal, OP... I don't even watch SPN anymore, but just the 'teen Jensen and Jared' is enough to turn me off to it because...well, they're hot now, and I care about that kind of thing, lmao. That and the show would be significantly different if Sam and Dean were teens, and not in a way I think I would enjoy.)
