If they haven't told you that you're a weeaboo or an asian fetishist, you're likely fine.

Weeaboos and fetishists are what they are because they can't hide that they're creepy and see everything asian as ~exotic other & wonderful~ instead of normal fans like fans of any other cartoons or games.

Every time I hear a white guy start talking about anime I think he's a weeaboo and that he has a body pillow because I've been burned before

I don't blame you for the gut reaction, but you must know that's not really true 100% of the time.

Plus, to be fair, it's likely more true than average for the people who are blurting stuff about anime out loud to you. I know plenty of normal fans who would never do that.

Uh, your Asian-American friends are on JRPG fandoms on tumblr?

THEY are the weeaboos. Being of Asian descent does not make you not an otaku, and it certainly doesn't make it impossible for you to idolize Japanese culture and be offensive about it.

It depends. Just liking jrpgs doesn't automatically make you a weeaboo. Usually it involves hardcore anime fans that can't differentiate fantasy from reality.

I think they'd be fine with you, OP. Your liking JRPGs is completely fine, and not indicative of yellow fever. Those criticisms refer to those who overly romanticize mainly Japan as this awesome utopia-land.
