I am so totally different then. I know going in that it is a story so the closer it hews to "real" the more it throws me when the small things don't gel. The more artistic it looks, the less it bothers me when the writer and artist inevitably has to pull artistic license. Plus, the whole everyone still has 80s hair and 80s fashions that so many artists still go in for even right now.

For me, I'm too aware of the art so it draws my attention away from the story.

(I've never noticed the 80s thing. My comic examples are from the 90s since those are the first ones I thought of that I knew I could find examples of. I'm not a design-person so I guess it just doesn't bug me. Although I will say I don't care for the art in Dark Knight Returns either.)

I'll admit that with the recent Superbro look, DC has got at least one comic into the mid oughts. At least they are moving forward.
