Notes:

Possibly more, but I got tired of looking.

As a note, yes, they did apologize and stopped. Thank you for that. (And no, we won't tell you who they were.) Might as well put these to use though, right?

ETA: Yes, regular post going to be up later today.

Current Secret Submissions Post: here.
Suggestions, comments, and concerns should go here.

Despite The Smiths later signing to a major label and Morrissey releasing solo albums on major labels, he's declared an "independent" artist? Here I was thinking "indie" artists released on independent labels!

I know, it doesn't exactly make sense...By now it's about a particular sound rather than an ethos, IMHO.

Or I could be be someone who likes listening to their music but has limited knowledge of many things. >:(

Later, being the keyword. At one point, they were signed with an independent label, and their sound is iconic of indie rock. Boy, you must really buy into that whole "hate the band once they've sold out" kitsch.

Britney Spears, as a child, released DIY cd's. As did the majority of other singers, artists, bands, groups, etc. before they "got big". Then they later signed with a major record label. So then technically, every person who releases a record on a independent label then onto a major label is an "indie" artist?

I personally couldn't care less about record labels, although I'm more fond ethically of people who choose to release music through independent or DIY means. The Smiths being my all time favorite band could never be touched by the fact that anything they or Moz have done have been released on major record labels.

"Indie" is a horribly misleading "genre" of music. I'm all for the abolishing of music genres, you shit starting anon, you.

'indie' defines sound, as well as independent labels out there that are called 'indie'. Is all. *yawn*
