The modern Democratic party is much more united around social issues than economic ones.

I know that you would like this not to be the case. I would like it not to be the case either (because I want Full Communism Now) (not really) but it is. The Democratic Party is fairly big-tent when it comes to economic theories, and there is absolutely a wing of the party that is worried about the deficit, fairly friendly to Wall Street, etc, etc. It's not by any means the dominant wing at the moment, but it exists.

Hillatron is pretty cozy with Wall Street. Given that she's the front runner, I'd say that's a good indication of how dominate the pro-Wall St. faction is. All while creaming themselves over the idea of more welfare and a nanny state. Really, the dichotomy never ceases to amaze me.
