Re: Phrases and slang you hate

Seconding tween and moneyed.

Also:

- "step on a lego"
- "basic bitch"
- "casual reminder that [insert bullshit here]"
- "flawless queen" / "my goddess" (when referring to a female character)
- "my son" (when referring to a male character)
- "cishet" (as two separate words they don't bother me, but when smushed together into a single word they make me want to barf)
- "problematic fave" (for fucks sake it's okay to like a flawed character, you don't have to take every fucking opportunity to remind everyone that you know the character is flawed)

...I may have been spending too much time on tumblr lately.

+100 to "step on a lego" - I love Legos!

Also, flawless queen, my children, all that. I hate that stuff.

I hate "step on a lego" because it's so passive aggressive. At least with "die in a fire" we all knew you (in the general sense) were truly mad, even if it upset people, which was kinda the point.

No more passive aggressive than DIAF. At least with step on a lego you are wishing upon them something that you actually want. Most people who say DIAF (unless they are murderers), are just saying it to sound tough.

Are you so sure about that? Die in a fire is full on aggressive because you are actually letting people know you are so mad that them you want them dead instead of wishing momentary pain that goes away after like 5 minutes. It also is something related to SJWs and I hate SJWs.

I've never really associated DIAF with SJWs. Not like I have 'Go Step on a Lego.'

Lol, I like "step on a lego" for some reason, not that I've ever used it/received it. I don't see it as passive aggressive so much as twee aggressive. Maybe it resonates for me because I have stepped on younger siblings' lego so so SO many times and it fucking hurts, and I can say truly that I wish that pain on people I really don't like whereas I don't actually want to tough-guy-talk let them DIAF.

I have literally never seen the word twee used anywhere.

I must hate people a whole lot more than you then. I also have one better, I stepped on a belt buckle once, right on the prong. I think it pierced my foot, I can't remember though, it didn't leave a scar.

All of those are dumb slang/pop phrases except for "moneyed", which doesn't bother me at all. The other ones are annoying though, I agree.

Also, hashtag anything. I resent it because I don't have twitter and will never get twitter, though it has seeped into Facebook and even spoken slang now. So my brain is slowly assimilating to its usage and sometimes when I make Facebook statuses, I want to make a hashtag. argh no, I refuse.

I always disagree with the use of "flawless queen" to describe some of my favourite female characters because it's not just that they have flaws, but that they do deeply questionable/immoral things, yet I still like them a lot. I wouldn't be bothered if they just called them queens, but "flawless" is starting to lose its meaning for me.

Yes to all of that, and all the cutesy "reverse bigoted" phrases like "(the) straights/heteros/whites" too.

Wow, I must be a bigot then cuz as a lezzer I have many reasons to refer to the hets.

"Pasty white" belongs in this category for me.

Yep, "step on a lego" annoys me, both because I like Lego, and because I find it annoying so many people refer to Lego pieces as "legos".
