Is FS unwelcoming to ESLs? If so, it must have gone right over my ESL head.

Care to provide examples?

If your English is good and you stay away from any language/country wank, you'll probably won't notice.

But the stuff I have seen: the example OP mentioned (only once tho), arguments being dismissed if the person admits being a ESL (unless it's a logged in, well liked user) and cultural differences between and non-English speaking country and an English speaking (usually the USA) country being judged and attacked.

SA I've seen the last stuff you mentioned, but it's just as often attacks on American stereotypes as on various European/others. Which is alright by me, in small amounts it can lead to enlightening discussions.

I wouldn't call it unwelcoming though (any more than any other generally English speaking boards). If I make funny mistakes around snarky people, I expect to hear it. It's much better than total radio silence. Then you KNOW you're not welcome.
