(Anonymous) 2015-08-12 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)this has been massive for years with other arresting visual quirks. Think of how many characters are drawn with eyes of two colours because it looks hella cool. I think vitiligo is better understood now so it crops up as an interesting quirk people imagine when humanising non-human characters, especially when the non-human character design has unusual markings of some kind.
