Oh for the love of God, cry moar.

First off, from a serious gamers standpoint, the fourth game is going to be much better than the last three. The graphics have improved, the court system has become more engaging, the already top notch music has been improved, because this time it’s an actual DS game, not just a silly GBA port. So hey, as much as characters and story are important, a game is a game. And they’ve made that aspect much, much better. Have you forgotten that the whole point is to solve cases? I mean, I enjoy that enough to overlook some plot hiccups. Lord knows, your typical rpg has more than this game has ever had.

Secondly, so ok, a lot of our old favorites are gone. I can empathize. I liked Edgeworth and Maya and Franziska as much as the next person. But think rationally. All three games revolved heavily around the Fey family, and that mystery has been solved. Done. Kaput. If they squeezed another game out of Phoenix with the Feys, it would feel overdone, and without, it would feel incomplete. So I think that it was a good idea to switch things up a little.

And also, you can’t judge a game before you’ve played it. I know that bringing back Phoenix and Ema, but none of the other characters might seem a little lame, but because of that (Or maybe something else, I dunno what you really meant by your secret) you’re not giving any of the new characters a fair chance. I for one am super excited to meet Apollo, Trucy, Klavier, and everyone else, and I’m sure as hell not letting that fact that bringing back an old character seeming half-assed keeping me from meeting them all.

TL;DR, but Jesus Christ on a tricycle, I’m tired of hearing everyone and their mothers bitch and moan about this on fandomsecrets. WE KNOW YOU’RE UPSET. So shut up already.

I'm pretty unspoiled and am looking forward to playing the fourth game, for a lot of the reasons you mentioned. Having said that: seriously, do you play it to solve cases? Because I play it for the retarded and cracked-out characters as much as I do for the gameplay. I play it to watch Pearl jump up and down and ship Maya and Phoenix, and have Phoenix and Maya act like idiots, and to watch Maya's boobs get suspiciously big when she starts channeling Mia (which makes me laugh like hell). If you (general you) feel like those characters haven't been done right by, then, IMO, yeah, you have a right to be pissed.

I don't see how someone could say that they haven't been done right by. They had a nice, satisfying, happy ending. Anything more and the series would have turned into something like Inuyasha, while all of us bang our heads against the wall and wish for it to end.

Also, I do play it a lot for the characters, and all I really know about the fourth game is the painfully obvious stuff, like, "Hey, Phoenix is a hobo. What's up with that?" But I'm more than confident that the producers have come up with another round of characters for us to grow hopelessly attached to. I'm not worried about it sucking, not in the least.

I haven't finished the third game yet, but I believe you. (And oh, god, let us not speak of Inuyasha. Oh dear.) I was just more, 'wait, people play this for the gameplay?'

Yeah, me neither. I do understand that people can get attached though, and frustrated. And fear of the unknown is a powerful thing.

Oh man, please finish it. It is incredible beyond compare, if a little... improbable. XD

Oh, I love the gameplay though. A game that requires more than two braincells rubbing together? I would like to subscribe to your newsletter, please.

Isn't improbable par for the course in PW? And I will, I'm stuck on the fucking Luke Atmey/Ron Stoppable DeLite case and I know what happened I just need the right question or object or something and aaaaagh I hate it when I'm stuck in this game.

I wanna dust for fingerprints again! That was awesome. Plus, my reflexes are shit, so I do much better in games like this than, say, Resident Evil IV (which, amusingly, I am also completely stuck on).

The only thing about the fourth game that bugs a lot of fans--or perhaps I speak only for myself here--is that it shoe-horns in the ties from the previous games when it simply doesn't need to be there, as the secret said.

In a way it cheapens the series, like the producers didn't think it could be a hit on its own cast and gameplay features and whatever new things they're bringing to the table with AJ, so they shoved Phoenix in there to ensure a hook to loyal fans and make sure they buy the game.

It's just a lame cop out at the risk of bastardizing everything else in the series; I can only think of a good handful of people who appreciate Phoenix being turned into a hapless hobo who drinks swag and plays poker and probably snorts coke out of emas cleavage. They are few far in between.

Your points, they are valid. I was a bit cheesed off too, but all in all, this is Apollo's story, and I'm willing to filter through some obvious "BUY ALL OUR PLAYSETS AND TOYS" inserting to get that.

Oh, and uh, there's a reason why he's a hobo. Like, seriously fascinating reason, beyond whatever you probably already know. But I won't spoil it for you.

I'm looking forward to playing the game myself as well; especially after I had found the "Meet the Characters"-esque commercial last year prior to it's release in Japan and noticed Phoenix was in there (upon reading the name), but not as he was in the previous games. That got me incredibly curious as to what happened during the so-called timeskip. So far I've remained unspoiled but I agree with what you're saying here, I loved the previous bunch too as was kind of a little surprised that they were gone, but that doesn't mean I'm dropping the next game without even touching it first.I'm too curious These complaints have seemed quite unfounded to me.

Plus, Apollo/Odoroki looks incredibly dorky and funny and his Magician assistante seems interesting. Basically, the fourth game looks like it'll be just as fun and incredible (and well, crazy) as the previous three and normally I don't put all my eggs in one basket like this, but with the way the Ace Attorney series has been I can't see this being a let down. :)

First though, I should maybe finish PW 2 and get PW 3 and finish that. *laughs*
