Not OP, but this was a pain to read, so I figured I'd transcribe it for everyone else:

Regret Message actually made me hate the MC of Daughter of Evil more than the original song.

You let your twin die at the hands of people that you pissed off, whose family you killed, and you're telling me you're only slightly regretting what happened??

It even had me actively disliking Kagamine Rin OTZ (?) It has the best bridge in all of the songs from Story of Evil, though, I'll give it that.

Holy shit, I was just thinking about this song yesterday in relation to secret #6 from yesterday's post. Except my thoughts about it were the polar opposite of yours.

I was thinking, if someone as horrible as the princess in "Daughter of Evil" could eventually come to feel regret for her actions, then is it really so ridiculous to think that someone like Vriska Serket, who is arguably not that bad in comparison, could be redeemed? I didn't comment in that thread because I figured no one who frequents F!S would be familiar with Story of Evil and people would have no clue what I was talking about... apparently I was wrong.

I agree with you about this song having the best bridge in Story of Evil, btw.

This is actually Evillious Chronicles.

Riliane, the Rin character, was possessed by a demon in a conspiracy of revenge against her now late mother because Kyle's (Kaito's) mother didn't get to marry Riliane's father instead of a lower-ranked noblewoman. She was literally being strung along by a demon forcibly placed in her body, regretted the actions she did after it left her because she lost power and even was okay with Clarith wanting to kill her when a she turned to find the white-haired woman with a knife over her.

The Daughter of Evil, Servant of Evil, and Regret Message are great and a couple of the other songs in the series are fairly decent too... but the rest of this Evillous Chronicles stuff is such a hot mess right now.

I wish akuno-p would just drop it and do some songs with self-contained storylines once in a while without attempting to tie it all back to the Of Evil series. imo his excessive focus on his storyline is also causing his music skills to suffer. The tuning in Seven Sins and Punishment for example is awful.

But it's barely focused on Story of Evil anymore? Aside from the manga happening, but that's alongside the Tailor novel which is only connected to SoE by virtue of existing in the same universe.

Jin's music sucks IMO. He used the completely wrong Vocaloid. IA in her original form doesn't suit anything but ballads real well.

Also lol at thinking SCaP is awful tuning but DoE/SoE/RM are great. Riliane sounds like a banshee in the original, Allen sounds awful and RM is notoriously poorly tuned.

This is a one-off song from Akuno-P. There's also debate on if Blood Stained Switch is actually part of Evillious or just references it, and so far Watching Us has no real connection besides appearing on an album for Evillious.

I'm not gonna fault the man for doing what he enjoys, though. He clearly loves his Evillious series, and he pioneered the way for Vocaloid-based light novels.

Except it's not. The entire backstory is about how this one girl was the victim of a conspiracy at a young age, a commentary on the biased views of history (Daughter of Evil's song is literally what in-world history has written down as opposed to the truth, which was a huge conspiracy), and a commentary on how actions have consequences that affect everyone.

Riliane went her entire life regretting everything she did while influenced by a demon that made her unable to stop this spiral started because she was fucking fourteen and wanted to be like her mother and had no idea how to. Her life was manipulated since she was very tiny, she was possessed twice, lost her early childhood memories INCLUDING of her twin brother, her father died of a dangerous and highly contagious disease that was ALSO this butthurt queen's fault, her mother then ALSO died of this disease and she was utterly alone and terrified. Meanwhile, because of the Demon of Pride she literally couldn't stop herself even though she expressed to Allen, not realizing he was her supposedly dead brother, that she was terrified both of herself and what she was doing as well as fearing she'd ruin everything her mother did.

But sure, she's just a raging bitch who regrets her brother died.
